When NPR’s David Dye introduced Cleopatra’s 2015 album Pacific on World Café Next, he joked that she “speaks fluent Californian.” This was a nod to her bicultural upbringing (Swedish and Californian) and also to the record’s echoes of classic California folk sounds. Pacific charted on college radio, and the Austin Chronicle called Cleo the “Emmylou Harris for a new generation of folk.”
