When NPR’s David Dye introduced Cleopatra’s 2015 album Pacific on World Café Next, he joked that she “speaks fluent Californian.” This was a nod to her bicultural upbringing (Swedish and Californian) and also to the record’s echoes of classic California folk sounds.
